Leon Lloyd

Dr Leon Lloyd is a former England international rugby player who competed at the highest level, facing elite opponents like Jonah Lomu. He won 11 trophies with Leicester Tigers, the English and European Champions. After retiring, Leon earned a first-class honours degree in Leadership and Management, followed by an MBA with Distinction, and more recently a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change Management. He has collaborated with organisations such as the Premier League, the UK Special Forces, Microsoft, and AMEX. His experience in elite rugby and top-tier organisations has provided him with valuable insights into high-performing teams. He understands how these teams are formed, how they can falter, and how to rebuild them to foster a sustainable winning mindset and culture. Leon emphasises the significance of attitude and culture in achieving high performance, believing that culture must be collectively created rather than purchased. Leon shares practical tools, tips, and techniques with his clients, including frameworks for building a winning team. He illustrates how to navigate the highs and lows of performance and emerge stronger. Growing up in Coventry, Leon still dreams of scoring the winning goal in an FA Cup Final for Coventry City. As the eldest of four, he left school at 16 to pursue a professional sports career, benefiting from support along the way. This has inspired him to give back, serving as an Ambassador and Business Mentor for the King's Trust since 2004 and as a Patron for Action Deafness. He co-founded the Switch the Play Foundation, a charity that helps professional athletes transition from sport. After successfully leading the organisation as CEO, he stepped down in 2021 but remains an active Ambassador. Since retiring from rugby, Leon has applied his lessons and transferable skills to the business world, offering services such as masterclasses, behavioural assessments, and keynote speaking. He sits on a Government Advisory Board and is also a Director of Leicester Tigers PLC.
