Andrew Likierman

Sir Andrew Likierman is Professor of Management Practice at London Business School and served as its Dean from 2009 to 2017. His work focuses on how leaders develop, assess, and apply judgement in complex decision-making. Andrew has held a range of senior roles including Director of the Bank of England, non-executive Director of Barclays Bank plc, and national independent non-executive director of Times Newspapers Holdings Ltd. He led the UK Government Finance Service, served on the Cadbury Committee on corporate governance, and was President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. His book, Judgement at Work: Making Better Choices, was published in 2025, building on a body of research that includes his widely cited Harvard Business Review article on the elements of good judgement. Andrew’s experience spans public finance, corporate governance, and organisational performance across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. He has advised House of Commons Select Committees, chaired the National Audit Office, and contributed to international reviews of United Nations governance. This breadth enables him to connect theory with practice, translating complex judgement challenges into practical frameworks leaders can use in real-world contexts.
