Daliso Chaponda is a prominent comedian and writer known for his work on BBC Radio 4's Citizen of Nowhere, QI, and Have I Got News For You. He gained widespread recognition after reaching the finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2017, amassing over 300 million views of his stand-up performances online.
Since his breakthrough, Daliso has become a familiar face on television and radio. His credits include appearances on Have I Got News For You, QI, Celebrity Pointless, The Royal Variety Performance, Good Evening Britain, and Britain’s Got Talent Champions 2019. He has also featured on The Complaints Department, Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains, Unforgivable, and The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
Daliso created and hosts the Rose d’Or nominated show Citizen of Nowhere, with its fourth series airing in October 2023. He also hosted The Exploding Library for BBC Radio 4 in November 2021 and regularly appears on The News Quiz, Just A Minute, and The Now Show. He has performed globally and at major comedy festivals in Edinburgh, Melbourne, Singapore, and Cape Town. Daliso has toured the UK three times to sold-out audiences. In December 2021, Daliso made his pantomime debut as the principal comedian in Aladdin at the Redhill Theatre, receiving positive reviews. Alongside his stand-up career, he is an accomplished fiction writer, having published works in science fiction, murder mysteries, and fantasy. He is currently working on a new novel and a children’s book.
