Dominic Holland's biography

At a glance

  • Award-winning stand-up comedian on the British circuit
  • BBC Radio 4 broadcaster and Comic Heritage Award-winner
  • Author of ten books including bestselling memoir Eclipsed
Dominic Holland is an award-winning stand-up comedian, the author of ten books, and a familiar face and voice across British television and radio. He is also, as he cheerfully admits, best known as Tom Holland's dad. Dominic won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1993 and earned a Perrier Award nomination in 1996. He has written and performed four BBC Radio 4 series, including the Comic Heritage Award-winning The Small World of Dominic Holland, and his television credits include Have I Got News for You, The Royal Variety Performance, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and They Think It's All Over. The Sunday Times has called him the UK's master of observational comedy. Then his eldest son became Spider-Man. Dominic turned the experience of being comprehensively out-starred by his own child into his bestselling book Eclipsed, and it has become a rich seam of material on family, fame, and keeping your feet on the ground while your son swings between skyscrapers. Offstage, Dominic is a polished awards host, conference host, and after-dinner speaker who has written keynote speeches for CEOs and comedy material for names including Bob Monkhouse, Harry Enfield, and Lenny Henry. He also co-founded The Brothers Trust, the Holland family charity supporting causes worldwide. Whether headlining a comedy club, hosting a corporate event, or delivering after-dinner entertainment, Dominic Holland brings craft, warmth, and genuine comic intelligence to every room he enters.

Testimonials

I think you could tell from the reaction you received that we were delighted with your performance last Friday evening. Many colleagues in the 600+ audience congratulated me on the choice of entertainment. Sharp, quick and clever. I think you caught the mood perfectly.

Deloitte

Superb performance at the Nikon Press Awards. I am getting such good feedback from our guests as we can be a cynical bunch, but you certainly won us over and it makes the organiser's life so much less stressful when the celebrity host is so professional.

Nikon

I so enjoyed your performance at the British Bakery Awards and particularly how you tailored your act to the audience so specifically. A lot of effort goes into these evenings and having such a professional host is really essential, thank you.

If you can, please include your budget upfront – it helps us fast-track your request. It’s also helpful to know the date, format (virtual or in-person), location, and a bit about your audience.
What is Dominic Holland's stage presence like?
Dominic Holland draws on autobiographical material — centred on his family life and the experience of being overshadowed by his son Tom Holland's rise to global fame as Spider-Man — to build observational stand-up sets and after-dinner speeches. This narrative thread, documented in his memoir Eclipsed, gives his performances a structured personal arc that moves between self-deprecating humour and grounded reflection on fame and family.
What topics does Dominic Holland specialise in?
Dominic Holland performs stand-up, awards hosting, conference hosting, and after-dinner speaking, with material centred on observational comedy, family, and fame, suiting corporate events, comedy clubs, and formal dinners. He won the Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1993 and has written and performed four BBC Radio 4 series, with television credits including Have I Got News for You and The Royal Variety Performance.
Can PepTalk help plan the speaker programme for my event?

Yes. Beyond booking a single speaker, PepTalk helps shape a full programme, matching voices to your agenda, audience, and goals across a day or a series. It is a consultative service, not just a booking. Tell us about your event at getapeptalk.com.

What does 'typical fee range' mean?

Speaker fees vary based on factors like event location, format, and availability. The 'typical fee range' figure gives you a baseline of someone's local, in-person rate sits, and we'll confirm the exact fee when you get in touch.

What logistics should I prepare before my speakers arrive?

Before your speakers arrive, confirm AV is tested, a green room is ready, and printed schedules are on hand. Prepare warm introductions for each speaker and brief your team on timings. PepTalk speakers come fully briefed, making event-day logistics smoother and stress-free from the start.

What's the difference between a keynote speaker, an MC, and event entertainment?

A keynote speaker delivers an inspiring or informative talk. An MC hosts and guides the event, keeping things on track. Entertainment — like a band or comedian — creates atmosphere and fun. Each serves a different purpose, and PepTalk can help you book the right talent for all three.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a speaker booking?

Life happens! Most speaker bookings can be rescheduled with reasonable notice. Cancellation terms vary by speaker, but PepTalk handles all the details & contracts transparently upfront so there are no surprises. Our team supports you through any changes, making the process as smooth as possible.

Have all the speakers on the website previously worked with PepTalk?
