Elana Meyers Taylor's biography

At a glance

  • Most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic history
  • Four-time World Champion and two-time Team USA flag bearer
  • Advocate for inclusion and disability equity

Elana Meyers Taylor is the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic history, a record built through relentless reinvention and a refusal to accept the limits others set.

A six-time Olympic medalist across five Games from 2010 through 2026, Elana claimed gold in the monobob event at Milan Cortina after five previous medals in two-woman bobsled, and is a four-time World Champion and two-time Team USA flag bearer. She became the first woman to compete against men in bobsled and the first to win a medal in a men's World Cup event. She holds an MBA in Finance, a Master's in Sports Management, and served as President of the Women's Sports Foundation and on the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition during the Biden administration, recognition that included the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award in 2022.

Elana's path began with a failed bid to make the Olympic softball roster, a setback that redirected her toward a sport she had never tried. That pivot, and everything that followed, including raising two young boys while competing at the highest level, shapes a message about resilience that resonates far beyond sport. Her family's experience parenting sons who are deaf, one of whom also has Down syndrome, gives her advocacy for inclusion and disability equity a grounded, personal weight.

Audiences leave with practical strategies for turning setbacks into momentum, a clearer understanding of what genuine inclusion looks like in high-performance environments, and insights into sustaining ambition through the competing demands of career and family. Elana brings a gold medal mindset and a lived story that changes how audiences think about what is possible.

Why we recommend booking Elana

Elana brings six Olympic medals and a career built on reinventing herself under pressure, breaking into bobsled as a woman of color in a male-dominated sport. That history of overcoming barriers and bias translates directly into valuable insights for better connection, collaboration, and resilience that organizations can apply to their own high-pressure moments.

What information do I need to provide to book a speaker?

What logistics should I prepare before my speakers arrive?

Before your speakers arrive, confirm AV is tested, a green room is ready, and printed schedules are on hand. Prepare warm introductions for each speaker and brief your team on timings. PepTalk speakers come fully briefed, making event-day logistics smoother and stress-free from the start.

What's the difference between a keynote speaker, an MC, and event entertainment?
