Elis James is a Welsh stand-up comedian, broadcaster, and actor who performs in both English and Welsh. Since 2019, he's hosted a BBC Radio 5 Live show and podcast with John Robins, a partnership that began on Radio X in 2014.
The show won Gold for Funniest Show at the 2020 Audio and Radio Industry Awards, and its sister podcast, How Do You Cope, was named Best Podcast by the Broadcasting Press Guild in 2021. On screen, Elis co-hosted two series of Fantasy Football League on Sky with Matt Lucas, played Owen in Josh, and starred in Crims.
His stand-up is built on stories, most of them drawn from growing up in west Wales and a lifelong devotion to football. He toured Wales with the Welsh-language show Derwydd in 2024, returned to English-language stand-up in 2025, and toured with John Robins in That Feels Significant the same year.
