Lucy Edwards is a broadcaster, journalist, and author whose work challenges perceptions around disability and champions inclusive design.
After losing her eyesight at the age of 17 due to a rare genetic condition, Lucy began using her platform to raise awareness and drive positive change around accessibility and representation. Her work reaches millions globally, with over one billion views of her content and a combined social media following exceeding 2.8 million.
Lucy began her career with the BBC in 2017 and became the first blind presenter on BBC Radio 1 by 2019. Her presenting credits include award-winning documentaries for the BBC Travel Show and high-profile accessibility events for major technology companies.
Lucy was awarded the RTS Breakthrough Presenter title in 2024 for her documentary Japan: The Way I See It, having won the RTS Best Documentary award for her earlier travel feature, How Does A Blind Girl Go On Safari?
Her first book, Blind Not Broken, incorporates both Braille and NaviLens features, enhancing access to everyday experiences for readers with disabilities.
Lucy provides expert consultancy to Fortune 500 companies, including Google, Meta, and Procter & Gamble, helping organisations implement effective accessibility frameworks and inclusive hiring practices. Her collaboration with Pantene introduced NaviLens technology to product packaging, revolutionising accessibility for visually impaired consumers. This practical approach to universal design demonstrates how businesses can embrace accessibility as both a social responsibility and a market opportunity.
Lucy continues to challenge stereotypes through her podcast But I’d Never Marry a Blind Woman, co-hosted with her husband Ollie, as well as through her public speaking, media appearances and consultancy work. Her message is clear: disability is not a barrier to impact, and inclusion benefits everyone.
