Michael Akadiri is a multi-award-winning comedian making a splash on the UK comedy scene. He is the inaugural Komedia New Comedy Award winner and participated in the London finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2021.
Michael's television career includes appearances on Comedy Central LIVE, The Stand Up Sketch Show, and the BBC Comedy Awards. He has collaborated with Channel 4 for their Jokes Only series on social media and created original sketch content with LadBible UK.
His radio work includes contributing to Capital Xtra’s Breakfast Show, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Comedy Club, and stand-up on Radio 4’s Fred at the Stand.
In addition to comedy, Michael is a junior doctor in the NHS and is currently on sabbatical from his surgical training. His medical background has led to opportunities as a health commentator on platforms like BBC Two’s Newsnight and Times Radio.
Michael's debut at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe was successful. His show, ‘No Scrubs,’ sold out and earned a nomination for NextUp’s Biggest Award in Comedy. Following this, he toured the UK in early 2023, and the acclaimed show is now available on his YouTube channel.
He performs live at top comedy clubs nationwide, including the Comedy Store, Glee Club, and Komedia. Michael is also a sought-after corporate act, working with clients such as Apple UK, Spotify UK, and NHS England.
