Dame Sarah Gilbert is one of the world’s leading vaccinologists, recognised for her pivotal role in developing the Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to science and public health, awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, and elected Fellow of the Royal Society. Other honours include the Albert Medal of the Royal Society of Arts and the King Faisal Prize in Medicine.
