Alex James is a musician, writer, farmer, and member of the Brit-pop band Blur. He studied French at Goldsmiths, where he met bandmates Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn, forming Blur in 1989. Their career spanned two decades, producing acclaimed albums like Parklife and The Great Escape, earning awards and an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting.
After Blur, Alex pursued various interests. He became a farmer passionate about cheesemaking and began writing for publications like The Independent and The Observer. His first book, 'Bit of a Blur,' was published in 2006 and offers an insightful account of his life as a rock star.
In 2008, Alex received an honorary fellowship from Goldsmiths, University of London, recognizing his contributions to music and culture. He also became interested in space science and served as a Visiting Scientist at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Europe's largest space research facility.
His second autobiography, 'All Cheeses Great and Small,' was released in 2012. It details his experiences post-Blur, including his purchase of a farm in the Cotswolds and his emergence as a prominent cheese enthusiast in Britain.
