Andy Cato's biography

At a glance

  • Co-founder of Wildfarmed promoting regenerative agriculture
  • Grammy-winning artist and member of Groove Armada
  • Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole and Agro-ecological Innovation prize winner
Andy Cato is a regenerative farmer and sustainable food systems leader, best known as the co-founder of Wildfarmed and as one half of the electronic music act Groove Armada. His work focuses on transforming how food is grown, valued, and consumed in response to climate and ecological crises. After a successful career in music, Andy made a decisive shift into agriculture after confronting the environmental damage caused by industrial food production. He sold the rights to his music to buy a farm in France, where he spent over a decade experimenting with regenerative methods that rebuild soil health, restore biodiversity and reduce reliance on chemical inputs. Those years of hands-on learning now underpin the farming standards used by Wildfarmed. Founded alongside George Lamb and Edd Lees, Wildfarmed works with more than one hundred farmers across the UK and France to grow regenerative wheat, supplying bakeries, restaurants, and major retailers. Andy continues to farm as a National Trust tenant in the UK, applying regenerative principles at scale while helping build field to plate networks that reconnect producers and consumers. Andy has been awarded the Agroecological Innovation Prize and appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole for his work in France. Alongside farming, Andy is a regular contributor to public debate on food systems, climate change, soil health, and biodiversity, bringing both lived experience and systems thinking to the conversation. Audiences gain a clear understanding of how food systems intersect with climate risk, supply chain resilience, and long term value creation. Andy’s perspective is particularly relevant to organisations working in sustainability, food, retail, education, and policy, offering practical insight into how regenerative approaches can drive environmental and commercial outcomes together. Book Andy to bring grounded insight and real world solutions on sustainable food and climate resilience to your event.
