Erin Jackson's biography

At a glance

  • First Black woman to win individual Winter Olympic gold
  • Decorated speedskater with 47 national titles
  • Team USA flag bearer at Milan Cortina 2026 Games

Erin Jackson is an Olympic gold medalist and speedskater whose career across four disciplines reflects her resilience, determination, and ability to perform under pressure.

Erin won the 500m at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, becoming the first Black woman to win an individual Winter Olympic gold medal in history and the first American to win the event since 1994. She holds 47 national titles, 11 world championship medals in inline skating, and was chosen by fellow athletes to carry the flag for Team USA at the Milan Cortina 2026 Games.

Erin's path from roller figure skating to inline skating to roller derby and finally to the ice reflects the same resilience and determination that carried her to Olympic gold. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a degree in materials science & engineering, a discipline that mirrors the focus she has brought to every sport she has taken up.

Audiences leave with insights into transferring existing skills into new high-pressure environments, a realistic understanding of how preparation outperforms talent over time, and strategies for maintaining focus when the margin for error is razor thin.

Erin Jackson brings the same precision that earned her Olympic gold to every stage she steps on.

The 500-Meter Mindset: Performing Perfectly When It Counts Most

Erin Jackson won Olympic gold in just 37 seconds, the culmination of years of preparation compressed into a single performance window. In this keynote, she talks candidly about what it takes to perform under that kind of pressure: the focus, the pre-performance routines, and the mental discipline behind delivering on the biggest stage. Audiences come away with a deeper understanding of what peak performance demands when the stakes are highest and the margin for error is essentially zero.

How to Learn Anything Fast and Compete at the Highest Level

Erin Jackson made the transition from inline skating to Olympic-level ice speedskating in under a year. In this session, she talks about what that transition actually required: the discipline of deliberate practice, the willingness to be a beginner again, and the psychological resilience needed to compete at the top of a brand new field. Audiences come away with a candid look at how determination and focus can carry someone through rapid, high-pressure change.

First: The Weight of Representation and the Focus Required to Win

When Erin Jackson won gold in Beijing, she became the first Black woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in speedskating history. In this session, she talks honestly about what it means to carry that significance and what it requires to perform at your best while doing so. She explores the intersection of identity, representation, and elite performance: how to honor the significance of a moment without letting it become a distraction, and what leadership looks like when you are pioneering a path that no one has walked before.

Something we've not covered here?

How do I book Erin Jackson for my next event?

Email erin.jackson@getapeptalk.com or call PepTalk on +44 20 3835 2929 (UK) or +1 737 888 5112 (US), and one of our speaker agents will contact you within hours to confirm Erin's availability and fees. If you can, please include your budget upfront – it helps us fast-track your request. It’s also helpful to know the date, format (virtual or in-person), location, and a bit about your audience.

What is Erin Jackson's speaking style like?

Erin Jackson structures her sessions around first-person narrative, drawing directly from her own athletic transitions and competition experiences to illustrate how preparation, focus, and deliberate practice translate into performance under pressure.

What topics does Erin Jackson specialise in?

Erin Jackson's sessions address peak performance under pressure, rapid skill acquisition and deliberate practice, and the intersection of identity, representation, and elite competition. She won Olympic gold in the 500m at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, becoming the first Black woman to win an individual Winter Olympic gold medal in history.

Does PepTalk charge a booking fee?

No. PepTalk adds no booking fee, so you pay the speaker's fee and nothing beyond it. The service, from shortlist through to contracts and event-day logistics, is included. For repeat or multi-event bookings, PepTalk can agree preferential rates with your procurement team.

What happens after I send a brief?

Share your event date, audience, format, objectives and budget, and PepTalk sends a hand-picked shortlist within 24 hours. Each suggestion comes with a profile, a fee and a recommendation on the strongest fit. Once you choose, PepTalk handles contracts, travel and logistics through to event day.

What does the typical fee range mean?

The typical fee range is the speaker's standard in-person fee in their home market, shown in their local currency. It moves with format, location, date and session length: virtual sessions and shorter slots usually cost less, while international travel and peak dates cost more. Send your brief to PepTalk and the team will confirm the exact fee in your currency.

Have all the speakers on the website worked with PepTalk before?

Not all of them, and it makes no difference to your booking. PepTalk's network of 15,000+ speakers covers talent the team works with directly alongside speakers represented by agents and agencies worldwide. PepTalk approaches the speaker, negotiates the fee and handles contracting either way.

How far in advance should I book a speaker?

Three to six months ahead is comfortable for most events, and 12 months is better for large conferences, peak-season dates or one specific in-demand speaker. Shorter timelines are workable, and PepTalk regularly fills last-minute and replacement bookings within days. Availability is the constraint, so get in touch as soon as you have a date.
