Jake Meyer is a British mountaineer and adventurer. He was educated at several schools and studied Environmental Geoscience at the University of Bristol, where he joined the Officer Training Corps. Jake began climbing at 13 and aimed to become the youngest person to complete the Seven Summits by 14.
He climbed Mount Kilimanjaro at 15 and at 18, he ascended Mount Elbrus, Europe's highest peak. By 21, he had completed the Seven Summits and became the youngest Briton to summit Everest in 2005 via the North Col-North East Ridge route. In 2006, he set a record for climbing the highest peaks in all 50 US states in just 23 days, 19 hours, and 31 minutes.
Jake has made several attempts to climb K2, the world's second-highest mountain. In 2009, he reached 7,700 metres before turning back due to poor conditions, a journey documented in "K2: Siren of the Himalayas." His second attempt in 2016 saw him reach Camp 3 but turn back after an avalanche. In 2018, after acclimatising on Broad Peak, he successfully summited K2, fulfilling a 13-year dream.
Since 2010, Jake has worked as a leadership development consultant for the Inspirational Development Group, focusing on creating effective leaders and team players. He is also an experienced public speaker, sharing insights on leadership and resilience.
Jake served as a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve in Afghanistan from 2012. He has been an ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards Scheme and has collaborated with various charities, including Walking With The Wounded and Help for Heroes.
In 2023, he embarked on an expedition to climb Kangchenjunga, Everest, and Lhotse. Jake's journey from Kilimanjaro to K2 highlights his determination and commitment to adventure and leadership.
