Mark Ramprakash

Mark Ramprakash MBE is a former cricket player and coach for England, widely regarded as one of the most prolific batsmen in county cricket history. Over more than two decades, Mark's batting performances made him a standout figure in the sport, and his post-playing career has seen him pass on his expertise to the next generation of cricketers.

Mark began his first-class career with Middlesex, debuting as a promising 17-year-old and earning his first call-up to the England team at just 21 years old. While his international career saw moments of brilliance, Mark thrived at the county level. After moving to Surrey in 2001, he became a dominant force, achieving the rare feat of scoring 100 first-class centuries, which only 25 players in cricket’s history have achieved. His ability to adapt and grow as a player became particularly evident in the latter stages of his career, with consecutive seasons averaging over 100 runs per inning in 2006 and 2007.

Since retiring as a player, Mark has devoted himself to coaching, sharing his wealth of experience with county and national teams. He has served as batting coach for Middlesex, the England Lions, and the England senior team and has taken on consultancy roles to nurture young talent. In 2023, he was elected President of Middlesex County Cricket Club, cementing his enduring legacy within the game.

Mark gained widespread recognition outside of cricket when he won the fourth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, showcasing a different kind of grace and precision on the dance floor. He remains a celebrated figure in sport and popular culture, admired for his dedication, versatility, and passion for excellence.
