André Kuipers is the first Dutch astronaut to complete two space missions, logging 204 days in orbit across two flights to the International Space Station. A physician and European Space Agency astronaut, he holds the record for the longest European spaceflight in history - 193 days aboard the ISS during mission PromiSSe. His two missions saw him serving simultaneously as doctor, scientist, flight engineer, and maintenance engineer, and he carries an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Amsterdam and the Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion. Since returning to Earth, André has become one of Europe's most active advocates for sustainability and science literacy. He co-founded the SpaceBuzz Foundation, bringing an astronaut's perspective on planetary stewardship to schoolchildren worldwide, and has hosted prime-time television programmes including Space Challenge - Mission To Mars and Spaceship Earth on Dutch public television.
