Fiona Allen's biography

At a glance

  • Co-creator and star of Channel 4's Smack the Pony
  • 2x Emmy Award-winner for sketch comedy
  • Sold out her Edinburgh Fringe debut and UK tour
Fiona Allen is an English comedian and actress, best known for starring in and writing the Emmy Award-winning and BAFTA-nominated Channel 4 sketch series Smack the Pony. Her screen credits span more than two decades of British television, from sketch shows including Goodness Gracious Me and We Know Where You Live to dramas and soaps such as Coronation Street, EastEnders, Skins, Waterloo Road, and Death in Paradise, plus film roles in 24 Hour Party People and Gladiatress. In 2023, Fiona made the move into stand-up with her debut show On The Run, which sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before a UK tour that sold out in most venues. Her sassy, anecdotal style draws on the frustrations of life with her husband and three kids, and her need to get out of the house and away from them. Now a regular headliner at clubs across the UK, including Headliners, The Comedy Cellar, and Off The Kerb nights, Fiona is warm but fearless on stage, with relatable material that suits after-dinner sets, awards hosting, and corporate entertainment. Book Fiona for a proven comic with mainstream recognition who reliably fills and holds a room.

Can PepTalk help plan the speaker programme for my event?

Yes. Beyond booking a single speaker, PepTalk helps shape a full programme, matching voices to your agenda, audience, and goals across a day or a series. It is a consultative service, not just a booking. Tell us about your event at getapeptalk.com.

What does 'typical fee range' mean?

Speaker fees vary based on factors like event location, format, and availability. The 'typical fee range' figure gives you a baseline of someone's local, in-person rate sits, and we'll confirm the exact fee when you get in touch.

What logistics should I prepare before my speakers arrive?

Before your speakers arrive, confirm AV is tested, a green room is ready, and printed schedules are on hand. Prepare warm introductions for each speaker and brief your team on timings. PepTalk speakers come fully briefed, making event-day logistics smoother and stress-free from the start.

What's the difference between a keynote speaker, an MC, and event entertainment?

A keynote speaker delivers an inspiring or informative talk. An MC hosts and guides the event, keeping things on track. Entertainment — like a band or comedian — creates atmosphere and fun. Each serves a different purpose, and PepTalk can help you book the right talent for all three.
