Julian March's biography

At a glance

  • Expert in leadership, and organisational & digital transformation
  • Digital transformation leader at major media companies including Sky, ITV and NBC
  • Strategic advisor and coach for senior leaders
Julian March is a leadership and transformation practitioner who brings hard-won insight to the challenges of modern leadership, change, and communication. He helps senior leaders adapt, align, and inspire through sharper storytelling and more human leadership. Julian started his career as a TV news producer before leading digital transformation at Sky, ITV, and NBC in New York. He helped transform Future Plc into a FTSE 250 digital powerhouse and went on to become CEO of an innovation consultancy. But after two decades at the top, he burnt out, and in 2020, stepped off the corporate treadmill to build a portfolio life around consultancy, and his passions of ceramics and cycling. That decision may have saved his life. In 2025, after discovering a serious heart condition, Julian had a pacemaker fitted; a stark reminder that growth isn’t always about acceleration. Sometimes it’s about clarity, creativity, and connection. Today, Julian works as a strategic advisor and coach to leaders across finance, technology, and science sectors. He’s developed a four-pillar framework for building a 'storytelling operating system', now used by global banks, sustainability pioneers, and innovation teams across Europe. Julian speaks regularly on leadership, innovation, men’s mental health, and what it really means to grow, not just as a business, but as a human.

Topics, sessions and talks

Human-Centred Leadership In An Age Of Exponential Tech
Technology is evolving on an exponential curve. The only problem is, humans aren’t. This gap lies at the heart of why so many change initiatives fail, not because the tech is wrong, but because people risk getting left behind. In this talk, Julian March shares a powerful framework for navigating the human side of tech-led transformation. Drawing on real-world experience across media, finance, and innovation, he’ll show you how to lead with clarity, alignment, and trust, even when the pace won’t slow down.
Newsroom To Boardroom: Storytelling In Modern Leadership
Leadership today isn’t always about having the answers, it’s more about knowing when to step in and when to step back. From the control room of a breaking news channel to the boardroom of a FTSE 250, Julian March has led teams through chaos, complexity, and reinvention. This talk explores the real work of leadership under pressure: staying calm, creating clarity, and using storytelling as a tool for alignment, trust, and momentum. Expect practical tools, sharp insights, and stories that remind you how much leadership is, at heart, a human act.
Redefining Resilience: Leadership, Identity, And Letting Go
What if everything you believed about resilience was wrong? In this honest and reflective talk, Julian March shares his personal experience of burnout and the deeper leadership lessons it revealed. Told through the lens of his own journey as a senior leader, this session challenges outdated ideas of strength and performance, and reframes resilience as adaptability, honesty and the courage to let go. Expect practical insights, powerful reframing, and permission to lead and live differently.
The Storytelling Operating System
Julian March brings a unique lens to storytelling, forged in the pressure cooker of live TV news and refined in the boardrooms of global media and FTSE 250 companies. In this sharp, practical session, he introduces his four-pillar framework for building a storytelling operating system: a repeatable approach to aligning identity, messaging, cadence and content. You’ll leave with a practical system for engaging teams, customers and stakeholders. Because without a story, strategy doesn’t land.
Lessons In Reinvention, Relevance, And Resilience
You know careers aren’t linear, but contrary to popular belief, they're not even necessarily zig-zagged. They’re a series of curves. Some you ride. Some you have to jump. In this reflective and energising talk, Julian March shares what he’s learned from a career built on well-timed reinventions: from TV news to digital media, from transformation leadership to portfolio life. With vivid stories and sharp insights, he explores how to stay relevant, resilient, and curious through each chapter, and how to leap before the curve flattens out, or worse, takes the dip.
