Professor Sir Nasser David Khalili is a distinguished scholar, collector and philanthropist whose work has spanned art, education and intercultural understanding. His life’s work combines scholarship with a deep commitment to building bridges across cultures and faiths. Over five decades, David has assembled the Khalili Collections, eight of the world’s most comprehensive collections of art, ranging from Islamic masterpieces to Japanese kimonos and Spanish damascene metalwork. Comprising more than 35,000 works, these collections have been exhibited in leading museums across the world and are supported by one of the most ambitious art scholarship projects of modern times, with over eighty volumes already published. Alongside his academic and curatorial achievements, David has worked extensively to advance interfaith and intercultural dialogue. Through the Khalili Foundation and initiatives such as the House of Peace, the Maimonides Interfaith Foundation, and Faith in the Commonwealth, he has created platforms for education, dialogue and global citizenship. His contributions have been recognised with numerous honours, including knighthoods from both the British Crown and the Vatican, the Legion of Honour from France, and his appointment as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
