Sophie Walker spent twenty years at Reuters as an international journalist. After supporting her elder daughter through a diagnosis of autism, she started campaigning for disability rights, particularly those of girls on the autism spectrum.
In 2015, she co-founded and led the Women’s Equality Party. She ran for London Mayor in 2016 and stood for election to Westminster in 2017, advocating for investment in care, equal pay, and ending violence against women.
In 2019, Sophie became Chief Executive of Young Women's Trust, later serving as Chief Strategy Officer for feminist law firm McAllister Olivarius. She then established her personal consultancy. Sophie is also co-founder of Activate, a fund supporting women from minoritised communities to enter politics, and author of "Five Rules For Rebellion: Let’s Change the World Ourselves."
