Comedian podcast hosts are one of the most useful bookings on the circuit, and one of the least obvious. A comedian who runs a weekly show has spent years doing three jobs at once: interviewing guests, holding a live room, and building an audience that follows their name rather than a venue. All three transfer straight onto your stage.
Below are fourteen comedian podcast hosts on the PepTalk roster, grouped by how much of the event they can carry. Five have the depth to host a full day or an awards night. Nine more are excellent additions to a bill.
Why do comedian podcast hosts make good event bookings?
A comedian who hosts a podcast brings three things a straight stand-up booking does not. They can interview, so panels and fireside chats keep moving. They read a room in real time, because live recordings and comedy clubs both punish anyone who cannot. And they arrive with an existing audience who will register for an event because their name is attached.
They can actually interview
Interviewing is a separate skill from performing, and most events discover this the hard way when an internal host runs out of follow-up questions ten minutes into a forty-minute fireside chat. A podcast host does this weekly, often with guests who arrive nervous or under-prepared, and has to get something usable out of them regardless. That is the same job as drawing a decent answer out of your CEO in front of 400 people.
They know what a live room feels like
Podcasting and stand-up both train the same instinct: notice when attention drops, and change course before the room does. Comedians who record live episodes in front of audiences get an extra layer of this, because they have to sustain a conversation and entertain simultaneously. When your schedule slips by twenty minutes or a technical fault stops the AV, this is the person you want holding the microphone.
They bring their own audience
A comedian with an established podcast has a listener base that already knows their voice, their sense of humour and their name. For internal events that rely on sign-ups, and for public events selling tickets, that recognition does real work. Several of the comedians below have taken podcast audiences on sold-out theatre tours, which is a clearer measure of pulling power than a follower count.
Five comedian podcast hosts to book first
These five can carry an event rather than appear in it. Each has a podcast with a real audience behind it, plus the live experience to host, interview or headline.
Geoff Lloyd
Book Geoff for
Conference hosting and on-stage interviews that get a real answer out of the guest.
Geoff Lloyd was making podcasts before most of the industry had worked out what they were for. At Virgin and Absolute he produced the first daily show from a major UK radio group available in podcast format. He now co-creates Reasons to be Cheerful with Ed Miliband, hosts Adrift with Annabel Port, and makes Firecrotch and Normcore, a show about Succession.
Alongside the podcasts he presents Pick of the Week on BBC Radio 4 and covers shows across BBC Radio 5 Live, Radio 2 and 6 Music. His television work includes the first three seasons of Thronecast on Sky Atlantic. The awards shelf holds two gold Sony Radio Academy Awards, a European Radio Award, an Arqiva Commercial Radio Award, a British Press Guild Award and Pink News Podcast of the Year.
For an organiser, the relevant skill is the interviewing. Geoff has spent two decades pulling usable answers out of politicians, musicians and comedians without letting a conversation stall, which is the part most in-house hosts find hardest.

Rachel Fairburn
Book Rachel for
A headline set from a comedian whose podcast audience already fills theatres.
Rachel Fairburn co-hosts and co-writes All Killa No Filla, which has built an international following of more than a quarter of a million listeners and has toured sold-out shows across the UK and the USA. That is a live touring audience assembled entirely through a podcast feed, which is the clearest demonstration of the point this article is making.
On stage she is a Live at the Apollo comedian, a Chortle One to Watch in 2020, and a finalist in Funny Women, City Life Comedian of the Year, the NATYS and English Comedian of the Year. She has taken five solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe since 2014 and featured in the Daily Telegraph's 40 jokes of the fringe. She also runs and hosts the Comedian's Stories night at 2Northdown in London, so she is used to holding a bill together rather than only appearing on one.

Rob Deering
Book Rob for
A podcast that already works as a corporate day, with live music and stand-up attached.
Rob Deering co-hosts Running Commentary with Paul Tonkinson, a comedy podcast recorded while the two of them are actually running. It has passed two million downloads, and the pair now offer it as a corporate day, bringing the format to a team as an interactive running session. If you want proof that a podcast can become a bookable event product, this is it.
His solo work stands up on its own. Rob performs stand-up with a guitar and a loop pedal, building vocal and instrumental layers live on stage, and has hosted The Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra. He contributes regularly to Steve Lamacq's Roundtable on BBC Radio 6 Music, and his television credits include Pointless Celebrities, Celebrity Total Wipeout and Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford. His book Running Tracks charts how music and marathon running became an obsession, and he has raised more than £150,000 for Parkinson's UK across over twenty marathons.
PepTalk Fact: Rob is the only person ever to win a comedians' edition of The Weakest Link without getting a single question wrong 🧠

Jessica Fostekew
Book Jessica for
Fireside chats and interview formats, handled by someone who does it every week.
Jessica Fostekew co-hosts The Guilty Feminist and created the chart-topping food podcast Hoovering, both built on long-form conversation with guests. She is equally at home in fireside chat and interview formats, which makes her a rare booking: a comedian you can put opposite a guest rather than only in front of an audience.
Her stand-up show Hench was nominated for Best Show at the 2019 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, won Best Show and Breakthrough Act at the 2020 Chortle Awards, became an Amazon Prime special and inspired the BBC Radio 4 series Sturdy Girl Club. She is a familiar face on Live at The Apollo, QI and Richard Osman's House of Games, and a regular across BBC Radio 4 including The News Quiz and The Podcast Radio Hour. Her acting credits include Motherland, Three Girls, Avoidance and Trigonometry.
She is a regular at Pride events and works well hosting awards or entertaining after dinner, creating a room that feels relaxed and inclusive without losing pace.

Esther Manito
Book Esther for
Hosting a live awards night, with a headline set attached if you want one.
Esther Manito is a British-Lebanese comedian from Essex who co-hosts Ghastly Women with Lily Phillips and The Running Joke with Zoe Lyons. She has also hosted the Independent Podcast Awards twice, including its first edition, which is about as direct a demonstration as you will find of a comedian podcaster being trusted to run a live event.
Her stand-up carries the same weight. She won Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2021 for #NotAllMen and Best Headliner at the 2026 Chortle Awards. Her television credits include Live at the Apollo on BBC Two and The Stand Up Sketch Show on ITV, and she is heard across BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. She was the first female comedian to perform at Dubai Opera House and has been nominated for both Arab Woman of the Year and Asian Woman of the Year.
Her material works from her own experience as an Arab Essex woman, moving between political observation and personal storytelling, which makes her a strong fit for network events and cultural celebrations as well as general entertainment.

Nine more comedian podcast hosts worth knowing
Any of these nine will strengthen a bill, and several will host a full evening if the format suits them. They're grouped here because their podcast work is one part of a wider offer rather than the headline reason to book them.
Paul Tonkinson
Rob Deering's Running Commentary co-host and a double Time Out Comedian of the Year, Paul is one of the most reliable headliners on the UK circuit. He has fronted The Big Breakfast on Channel 4 and The Sunday Show on BBC2, supported Michael McIntyre on arena tours across four countries, and hosted the Brit-com Gala at Montreal's Just For Laughs. His book 26.2 Miles to Happiness won the Daily Telegraph Sports Entertainment Book of the Year in 2022.

Ian Smith

James Barr
James co-hosts A Gay And A NonGay, which won both Webby and LOVIE awards in 2025, and co-presents Hits Radio Breakfast with Fleur East and Will Best. His Edinburgh show Sorry I Hurt Your Son (Said My Ex To My Mum) earned three major award nominations and a place among the best reviewed shows of 2025.

Bec Hill
Bec co-hosts A Problem Squared with mathematician Matt Parker, solving listener problems on air, alongside a run of other shows. Name the job you are buying. Hosting, a headline set, an on-stage interview and a live podcast recording are four different bookings with four different preparation requirements. Most comedian podcast hosts can do more than one, but they will prepare very differently depending on which you ask for, and vague briefs produce vague performances.
The formats that work best with this kind of booking:
- Event host or compere. Linking sessions, managing overruns, warming a room after lunch.
- On-stage interview or fireside chat. Putting a comedian opposite your CEO, founder or guest speaker.
- Awards night host. Reading category names for ninety minutes without the energy dropping.
- Live podcast recording. Their show, your audience, recorded on the night and released afterwards.
- Headline set. A straight comedy set, usually after dinner.
Whichever you choose, send the running order, the names and job titles of anyone they will introduce, and an honest description of the audience. A comedian who hosts a podcast will do the reading, and the more specific your material, the more specific their references on the night will be.
If you are building a bill rather than booking one act, our roundups of female comedians in the UK and comedians for Pride and LGBTQ+ network events cover the roster from different angles.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it cost to book a comedian who hosts a podcast?
Booking a comedian who hosts a podcast costs from $2,000 for an in-person booking through PepTalk, and fees rise with television profile, audience size and how much of the event the comedian is carrying. Hosting a full day costs more than a twenty-minute set, because it involves preparation, scripting and time on site. Travel and accommodation sit outside the fee.
Can a comedian record their podcast live at our event?
Yes, a comedian can often record their podcast live at your event, and it gives your audience something they cannot get anywhere else. Terms vary by show, because some podcasts carry sponsor commitments or network agreements that affect what can be recorded and released. Raise it early, before the contract is signed.
Is a podcast host the same as a compere?
A podcast host and a compere overlap. A compere links acts and keeps the energy up between them. A host who came through podcasting adds interviewing, which matters when your programme includes panels, Q&As or conversations with internal speakers. Ask which the comedian prefers, since most have a clear answer.
How far ahead should we book a comedian podcast host?
Book a comedian podcast host three to six months ahead for most dates. Comedians with touring shows and podcast recording schedules have less flexibility than the average speaker, and December fills first because of Christmas parties and end-of-year awards. If your date is fixed, get in touch as soon as you have it.
