August 2027 is a quieter month for formal awareness campaigns and a busy one for culture. The UN days cluster around people and place, with the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on 9 August, International Youth Day on the 12th and World Humanitarian Day on the 19th, while the Edinburgh Festival Fringe marks its 80th edition and Notting Hill Carnival closes the month over the bank holiday weekend. For US teams, Black Business Month runs all month and Women's Equality Day falls on 26 August.

Sport is lighter than a British August has been for a while. There are no Commonwealth Games and no European Athletics Championships in 2027, and the World Athletics Championships in Beijing sit in September. • National Wellness Month (US) | August 2027 A self-care and healthy-routines campaign. • Summer bank holiday (Scotland) | 2 August 2027 Scotland takes its August bank holiday on the first Monday, four weeks ahead of England and Wales.
• Edinburgh Festival Fringe | 6–30 August 2027 The 80th edition of the world's largest arts festival. A good moment for creativity, risk-taking and performance themes, and a reason to book after-dinner speakers and comedians early, since many are in Edinburgh for the month.

• National Bank Open | 1–12 August 2027 (to be confirmed) The men's event is in Toronto and the women's in Montreal this year, the first big stop on the North American hard-court swing.
• Cincinnati Open | 12–22 August 2027 (to be confirmed) The final combined warm-up before the US Open. Dates are taken from the provisional ATP calendar.

Note that there are no Commonwealth Games, no Olympic Games and no European Athletics Championships in 2027. Glasgow hosted the Commonwealth Games in July and August 2026 and the next edition is Amdavad in 2030. The World Athletics Championships are in Beijing from 11 to 19 September 2027, the Ryder Cup is at Adare Manor in September, and the Rugby World Cup and Men's Cricket World Cup both start in October.
