March 2027 is one of the fullest months in the calendar for HR, culture and events teams. Women's History Month runs across the UK and US, International Women's Day and Commonwealth Day share Monday 8 March, and the second half of the month carries Nowruz, Holi and an unusually early Easter.

It's also a month with two major faith moments landing early: Ramadan ends and Eid al-Fitr is marked around 9 and 10 March. In sport, the Six Nations reaches Super Saturday on 13 March and the US baseball season opens earlier than it ever has. Here's PepTalk's guide to the cultural highlights of March 2027.

March 2027 – Month-long Observances

  • Women's History Month (US & UK) | March 2027 Recognises women's contributions to history, culture and society, and spotlights where gender equality still has ground to make up. Caroline Criado Perez OBE and Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE are two of PepTalk's most-booked speakers for the month.
  • Endometriosis Awareness Month | March 2027 Raises awareness of a condition affecting roughly one in ten women, and of the diagnosis delays that still surround it. A useful anchor for organisations building women's health into their wellbeing programme.
  • Ramadan continues | to around 9 March 2027 The Islamic holy month of fasting runs into the first week and a half of March. Worth factoring into meeting times, catering and flexible working before Eid.

March 2027 – Key Dates

  • St David's Day (Wales) | 1 March 2027 Wales's national day, marked with daffodils, leeks, concerts and school eisteddfodau.
  • Zero Discrimination Day | 1 March 2027 A UN observance promoting equality before the law and in practice, whatever someone's background. Gareth Thomas CBE, who has spoken openly about stigma and discrimination around both sexuality and HIV, brings this one to life for audiences.
  • World Book Day (UK & Ireland) | 4 March 2027 Held on the first Thursday of March, celebrating reading and literacy, and marked in most UK schools with costumes and book tokens.
  • Mothering Sunday (UK) | 7 March 2027 The UK's Mother's Day, set by the fourth Sunday of Lent rather than a fixed date, which is why it moves each year and doesn't align with the US date in May.
  • International Women's Day | 8 March 2027 The global day recognising women's achievements and pressing for gender equality, and the single busiest speaking date in the March calendar.
  • Commonwealth Day | 8 March 2027 Observed on the second Monday of March, celebrating the shared values and diversity of the Commonwealth. In 2027 it shares the date with International Women's Day.
  • Eid al-Fitr | expected 9–10 March 2027 Marks the end of Ramadan with prayer, celebration and shared meals. The exact date depends on the sighting of the moon and varies by country, so confirm locally before fixing anything to the day.
  • St Patrick's Day | 17 March 2027 Ireland's national day, now marked worldwide with parades, music and a great deal of green.
  • World Sleep Day | 19 March 2027 Held on the Friday before the spring equinox, highlighting sleep as a pillar of health and performance. PepTalk's mental health speakers page has options for sessions linking sleep, recovery and wellbeing.
  • International Day of Happiness | 20 March 2027 A UN initiative treating happiness and wellbeing as legitimate goals of public policy, not soft extras.
  • Nowruz | 21 March 2027 Persian New Year, marking the arrival of spring and celebrated across Iran, Central Asia, the Caucasus and their diaspora communities.
  • International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination | 21 March 2027 Commemorates the 1960 Sharpeville massacre and anchors anti-racism work worldwide.
  • World Down Syndrome Day | 21 March 2027 Chosen for the date 21/3 to reflect the third copy of the 21st chromosome, and marked with the Lots of Socks campaign.
  • World Poetry Day | 21 March 2027 UNESCO's celebration of poetry as a universal art form, marked with readings and workshops.
  • World Water Day | 22 March 2027 Raises awareness of the global freshwater crisis and the case for sustainable water management.
  • Holi | 22–23 March 2027 The Hindu festival of colours, celebrating spring and the triumph of good over evil. Holika Dahan, the bonfire night, falls on 22 March, with Rangwali Holi and the colours on 23 March.
  • Good Friday | 26 March 2027 A UK bank holiday and the start of the Easter weekend, which falls early in 2027.
  • Easter Sunday | 28 March 2027 The principal feast of the Christian calendar, with Easter Monday on 29 March. Note that Orthodox Easter falls five weeks later, on 2 May 2027.
  • International Transgender Day of Visibility | 31 March 2027 Recognises and celebrates trans people and their contributions, while highlighting the discrimination the community still faces.

March 2027 – Sporting Highlights

  • Six Nations Super Saturday | 13 March 2027 The championship closes with three matches in a day, finishing with Ireland against France in Dublin. Round four runs across 5 and 6 March. Take a look at our rugby speakers and after-dinner speakers for events built around the closing weekends.
  • NCAA March Madness | March 2027 The US college basketball tournament runs through the month, with the Final Four following in early April at Ford Field in Detroit.
  • MLB Opening Day | 25 March 2027 Major League Baseball opens its season earlier than it ever has, with 14 games on 25 March following Opening Night on 24 March.
  • Formula One season opener | March 2027 (to be confirmed) The 2027 F1 calendar had not been published at the time of writing. A March start is expected, but treat any circulating dates as provisional until the official calendar lands.

Caroline Criado Perez OBE is the obvious call for International Women's Day if you want a session with evidence behind it. Her work on the data gap gives audiences something concrete to act on rather than a general case for equality they've already accepted.

Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE works well for organisations marking both Women's History Month and the technology side of the conversation, drawing on years of building girls' representation in STEM through Stemettes.

Gareth Thomas CBE suits Zero Discrimination Day on 1 March and any March event built around stigma, disclosure and belonging. He speaks candidly on coming out in professional sport and on living publicly with HIV.

Easter falls early in 2027. Good Friday is 26 March, Easter Sunday is 28 March and Easter Monday is 29 March, both bank holidays in the UK. Orthodox Easter is five weeks later, on 2 May 2027.
