Jenny Pitman, an inspirational figure in the world of horse racing, is available as a guest speaker. Born in 1946, she grew up on a farm in Leicestershire and developed a deep love for horses from a young age. In her teenage years, she left school and began working in stables, determined to spend all her time with horses.
In the 70s, Jenny Pitman opened her own stables and embarked on a career as a national hunt racehorse trainer. It was a challenging journey for her, as being a woman trainer in this industry was unheard of and unwelcome. Despite facing financial difficulties and the breakdown of her first marriage, she persevered and with the support of her second husband, she became an unrivaled success as a trainer.
Jenny Pitman's talent and determination have led her to many remarkable achievements. Her horses have won two Grand Nationals, and in 1984 she became the first woman to train a Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner. She went on to win the race a second time in 1991. Her accomplishments have earned her numerous awards, including an OBE in 1998.
Aside from her racing career, Jenny Pitman has taken on other roles. She served as Racing Manager to Robert Hichins, a national newspaper columnist, author, and guest speaker. She is also a survivor of thyroid cancer and has become a patron of the British Thyroid Foundation, dedicating her time to philanthropy. In 2017, she joined the Disciplinary Panel and Licensing Committee of the British Horseracing Authority.
