From May 2010 to July 2014, he was Secretary of State for Education.
He then served as Government Chief Whip and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury from July 2014 to May 2015.
Gove was also Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice from May 2015 to July 2016.
Before entering politics, Michael worked as a journalist.
He began his career as a reporter for The Press and Journal in Aberdeen, then worked as a researcher and reporter at Scottish Television, and later as a reporter for BBC Television.
He eventually became Assistant Editor of The Times.
