Sony Kapoor is a macroeconomist, finance expert, development specialist, and sustainability adviser. He has a strong academic background, having studied at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) as a National Talent Scholar, and obtaining an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies. Kapoor also focused on finance at the London School of Economics (LSE) as a Chevening Scholar. Kapoor's professional journey has taken him through various roles in banking, asset management, policymaking, strategy consulting, policy research, and political advisory. Currently, he holds several positions including CEO of the Nordic Institute for Finance, Technology & Sustainability, Professor of Climate, Geoeconomics & Finance at the European University Institute, and Chief Economist for Worthwhile Capital Partners. He is also a Senior Fellow in Sustainable Macro-finance at E3G. Throughout his career, Kapoor has shown exceptional leadership in managing the euro crisis, advocating for financial reform, promoting climate change action, and enhancing development policies. He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and as a European Young Leader by Friends of Europe. Kapoor is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts (RSA) and has received an honorary fellowship from George Soros for his contributions to resolving the Euro crisis, promoting tax justice, and fostering green finance. In addition to advising governments, Kapoor has provided expertise to international organizations such as the EU, the UN, the World Bank, the OECD, and the IMF. He has also consulted for financial institutions including sovereign wealth funds, development finance institutions, and banks, and has advised the boards and senior management of major corporations and start-ups.
