In 2005, Steve Brown became paralysed after falling from a balcony and breaking his neck. Shortly after, he was introduced to wheelchair rugby and went on to captain Great Britain at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. During the lead-up to the games, Steve was featured in a series of Channel 4 documentaries and the Paralympic advertising campaign, SuperHumans.
Since then, Steve has become a familiar face on the BBC, presenting shows such as Countryfile, Escape to the Country, and Escape to the Perfect Town. In 2018, he appeared in Without Limits, a BBC1 programme where he and five others with physical disabilities undertook an adventurous journey through Vietnam.
Steve's other television appearances include BBC Breakfast, Springwatch, Health: Truth or Scare, Game Changers on Sky Sports 1, Curious Creatures on BBC2, The One Show, and Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4. Recently, he joined The Travel Show on BBC1 to explore improvements in accessibility following the Tokyo Paralympics.
Steve has also solidified his sporting credentials by hosting events such as the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016, the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021, the World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge on ITV4, and The Invictus Games on BBC1. He is regularly featured on BBC's coverage of Wimbledon, the London Marathon, and the Great North Run.
