A former Chief Communications Officer at both McLaren and Aston Martin Formula 1 teams, Matt played a crucial role in shaping the public image of these legendary brands during both triumphant and turbulent periods. His work at McLaren saw him navigate high-profile events and collaborate with world champions Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, and Fernando Alonso, while at Aston Martin, he helped launch the team’s Formula 1 presence in 2021. He worked closely with four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel, leveraging the driver’s platform to raise awareness on diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Before transitioning into his leadership roles within F1, Matt built his career as a journalist and editor, with stints at some of motorsport’s most respected publications, including Autosport and F1 Racing. His time as Editorial Director at Haymarket Motorsport Publications cemented his reputation as an authority in the sport, steering content that resonated with a global audience.
A passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusivity, Matt co-founded Racing Pride in 2019, a movement working in collaboration with Stonewall to promote representation within motorsport. His role as Communications Director for W Series, the all-female racing championship, further underscored his commitment to equality and representation, helping the groundbreaking series gain global recognition.
Alongside his communications work, Matt is a published author, co-writing Emerson Fittipaldi’s autobiography and releasing his own LGBTQ+-themed novel, The Boy Made the Difference, in 2020.
