Richard Tryon is one of the most recognised figures in the modern Breathwork movement. He is known for his scientific approach and accessible teaching style. With a background in psychology and neuroscience and years of global study, Richard brings together tradition and innovation to demonstrate how conscious breathing can transform mental, physical, and emotional health.
His interest in Breathwork began as a personal search for solutions when his father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Discovering the Wim Hof Method opened his eyes to the potential of the breath as a healing tool, prompting him to study widely with leading Breathwork practitioners across five continents. What began as a personal journey has since become a professional mission to bring Breathwork into the mainstream.
Richard holds an MSc in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London and has researched Breathwork’s potential in clinical and wellness settings. He is a former board member of the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance and a member of the Global Wellness Institute’s Breathe initiative.
Richard has worked with government bodies and major companies worldwide, including Google DeepMind, Spotify, and Unilever, leading Breathwork sessions for employee well-being and mental resilience. Through his retreats, events, and digital platforms, including the Flourish app, he has guided tens of thousands of people in developing a healthier relationship with their breath.
Richard is also the author of Exhale, a practical guide to Breathwork that distills years of learning into clear, usable tools. His approach combines deep knowledge of physiology and psychology with a strong belief in self-empowerment, showing that profound shifts in well-being are possible, often beginning with something as simple as a single breath.
